MAP ENSEMBLE NO. O1

12O". 48"

MAP ENSEMBLE NO.O1 paintings were constructed using discarded foam core boards to fit a 48”. 12” composition. The final work is an assemblage of the ten 48". 12". panels to form a 120". 48". composition. This composition originally started out as an experimentation within my "BOX OBJECTS" series, but When I finished the assemblage of the six paintings, it resembled a topological map, and I staged an actor to perform a professional act with the map object. The movie which was filmed as tribute to the painting, portrays a commander figure leading the audience. The actor is portrayed using red yarn, and pointer stick to perform initial stages of an invasion. This project is inspired by insecurity, a head space accessed through the obsession to find a comrade. If the seeker, were to be concerned with the rate of speed in which they wanted to seduce another body into becoming their comrade, with no understanding of the law in which structures a sentence, what exists is a representation of specific energy, termed “ambition”. Ambition acts as catalyst for sacrificing audible expressions in exchange for visual change. I wanted to express the preliminary stages of manifesting a concrete plan.
